Err... I don't get this. Mimi, Jia Xing and Priscilla-- Are you referring to Ling Ling's and Elizabeth's posts or those way before that-- mine, desiree's, Priscilla's and Baba and Bangbang's? Because all Desiree, Baba and Bangbang, Priscilla and I did was to ask NCC-hate to leave because she was insulting us, our seniors and ex-seniors and I really do wonder if it's wrong. But if you are referring to the fact that asking people(not ncc-hate) to leave our blog is wrong, I do agree with you.
Oh and our platoon standards are kind of improving, maybe from a 3 to a 5, but we still have lots of space for improvement. And for platoon problems-- Oh yes, I realise that they aren't as serious anymore, but still, there are some problems. This is extracted from my blog and some of the problems seem less apparent now, but still, we can prevent those problems from happening again. And sorry about the tone. I was really worked up then.
1) People are just 2-sided. I mean I don't mind, because there are very few people who are able to have the same front all the time. But at least don't make it so apparent? It's way too obvious. I thought you were putting in a lot of effort. But I've realised that you are just doing it just so that some people are able to see it. Not to pull up our standards. Not to help us. I've seen through you. Your true colours.
2)i) Different treatments-- Hello? We are all of the same rank. We are not like your juniors. Not some fish you bought from the market which you realise is spoilt and decided to throw away. Obviously some of us will be closer to each other and somehow there will be cliques. But can you at least make an effort? Like when the person takes initiative to talk to you or sit beside you, don't you ever find it contemptuously impertinent to move away or give her that infamous "look" ? Well, I am telling you now. I do find it insolent. And hello? This is not just a cca. This is not the cca where you can bond with ONLY your friends only and exclude the rest from the "invisible but apparently existent" group you have there. And you got to face it. Obviously, there will be some people in the platoon whom you don't like. But hey, she's/they're part of the platoon as well. It's a fact. Stop living in your own world. Wake up to the reality. The reality which you've thought to be cold, cruel and hard may not be so unacceptable for you after all. Start accepting it. Or at least make an effort to.
2)ii) Her. I am sure all of you know who she is. And please. Can you see that she is also making efforts? Making efforts to join in. To fit in. Into your group. Can you remember the times when she tried to sit next to you? Tried to say something? Made the effort to stay back? No, I reckon you can't. Because you have already painted a picture of her in your mind. You have already had a bad impression on her and you are not willing to change your mindset or the way you feel about her. Then all I can say is that you are stereotyping. And discriminating her. How would you feel if you were her? The one being left alone to cry? The one being ostracised and alienated. No, you will not like it. You will not like it. You will not enjoy it. Not a sheer bit of it. So what about her? How different is she from you? Why should she warrant less attention than you? And as platoonmates, don't you think it's also our fault that she's like that? Have you tried talking to her about her problems? No. What have you even said to her? A sentence consisting not more than 10 words? Like remember to do this, remember to do that while folding your arms and in that oh-i-am-of-a-higher-authority-of-you-so-you-had-better-listened-because-you-are-not-putting-in-any-effort-anyway voice. When apparently, you are not 100% true. Although she may not be putting in effort all the time, but it doesn't mean that she is not at times. There may be some times when she is but because you are concealed by that image you think is portrayed by her, that you don't realise so.
3) Complacency-- Like whatever. Who do you think you are and who do you think we are? I repeat: You are not a figure of authority. And we will never respect you. Unless we think you are worth respecting. And we are not trash. Not. Not. We are all of the same rank. And the same age. So please give us the basic courtesy you will give anyone else. And please don’t command us and order us. Because we are not your maids or servants and we are not obliged to do anything you ask us to. And just because you think your drills are good. Just because you think your greetings are the loudest and lowest. Doesn’t make you the person with the best character. Doesn’t make you a figure of authority as well. You can be the person with the best drills in the world, but remember, you are just as lousy as the weakest platoonmate. So please don’t think you are really good and stuff. And start ordering us around. Oh yes. I agree that your drills are good, but still.
Bye,
Kar Mun
